The NSWOCC Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Debra Johnston, MN, RN, WOCC (C) has accepted the leadership position for the NSWOCC Professional Practice Core program. Debra will be taking over from Laura Robbs, RN, BScN, MN, NCA, WOCC (C) who has completed her term and who is now leading the Continence program for the WOC-EP.

The NSWOCC Board of Directors welcomes Debra Johnston, MN, RN, WOCC (C) as the new NSWOCC Professional Development Core Program Leader

Debra brings a wealth of both clinical and academic experience to this position. She is a clinical nurse specialist focusing on wound and ostomy care in the acute care setting. She is a member of the University Health Network Skin and Wound Care Clinical Nursing Leadership Team and the University Health Network Interprofessional Skin Health Steering Committee in Toronto, Ontario.

Debra is a part of the Clinical Faculty for the Canadian Wound, Ostomy and Continence Educational Program (WOC-EP) , as an adjunct Lecturer Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. and as a Faculty and Clinical Advisor for Advanced Ostomy Care and Management, Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto.

Debra has a Masters in Nursing and is a C.N.A. certified Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence – WOCC (C). She also completed the International, Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course (IIWCC).

The Professional Development Core program will be focusing on the review and revision of the NSWOCC National Best Practice Standards for Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC).
