2021 NSWOCC National Conference: an eWOC Educational Summit 

Leading edge education in wound, ostomy and continence

On behalf of the NSWOCC National Conference Planning Committee, we want to thank you again for your participation in our 2020 National Conference which was virtual for the first time ever! Despite the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were thrilled to provide the 39th NSWOCC National Conference virtually.

In taking all necessary precautions for the safety of our members & attendees, we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary and 2021 National Conference: an eWOC Educational Summit, virtually, in May 2021.

We will be instead hosting our 41st National Conference in Calgary, AB from May 24-29, 2022.

The 40th NSWOCC National Conference will include Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) & Skin Wellness Associate Nurses (SWANs) from across Canada as well as hospital and community-based nurses and allied healthcare professionals including physicians, RNs, RPNs and allied healthcare professionals. The theme of this conference is “PLUGGED IN AND CHARGED UP” and will be focused on advancing specialized care in the three domains of wound, ostomy and continence care through a virtual conference platform.

The NSWOCC National Conference Planning Core program under the leadership of Mary Hill, RN, BScN, MSN, WOCC(C) have worked hard to develop a leading-edge educational program featuring national and international subject matter experts in the areas of wound, ostomy and continence care. Topics will be delivered to address Wound & Skin, Ostomy, Continence & Leadership.

This conference will take place from Wednesday May 12, 2021 to Saturday May 15, 2021, with an exhibit hall kick off early Wednesday, a French educational program Wednesday and English education and the Annual members Meeting Wednesday evening. Thursday will be the “seminar day” and educational sessions will be held from Friday May 14, 2021 to end of day Saturday May 15, 2021.

All conference sessions will be recorded and available for conference registrants to access after the conference for up to two months. The Virtual Exhibit Hall will remain open to the public until our next conference in May 2022.

2021 Call for Abstracts

NSWOCC invites you to submit an oral or poster abstract for our 40th National Conference from May 12-15, 2021.

Category
Ostomy, wound, continence or leadership that are research, case study or practiced based or demonstrate leadership of the NSWOC specialty.

Submission Deadlines
The deadline for Oral Abstracts is February 19, 2021. The deadline for Poster Abstracts is March 1, 2021. Only electronic copies of abstracts submitted here will be considered. For questions about the abstract submission, please contact Louise Samuel at lsamuel57@hotmail.com.

Guidelines

  • Abstract body should not exceed 300 words. (this excludes title, author, affiliations)
  • Content must be single spaced, using Times New Roman, size 12 font.
  • Body of abstract should not include author names or affiliations, as abstracts will be blind reviewed.
  • Clinical abstracts (e.g. case study) should include: case history, clinical situation, actions taken, results/outcomes and implications for practice.
  • Research abstracts should include: purpose of the study, methodology, results, conclusions, implications for practice

About Claire Tansey

A Toronto native, Claire Tansey has been in the food business for over 20 years as a restaurant cook, baker, cooking teacher, test kitchen manager and restaurant critic. Along the way she sang lead in a rock band, got a master’s degree in literature and was Food Director of Chatelaine. Now, at Claire Tansey’s Kitchen, she empowers home cooks with recipes to make mealtime uncomplicated. She’s a Cityline guest expert, a columnist on CBC Radio, a teacher, a writer, and a working mom.
